Finished Atwood's "The Testaments" last night. Sorry to say that I found it disappointing in the hint of supernatural overtones at the end, & the ending itself smacked too much of "& they lived happily ever after." A bit more ambiguity about the fates of the POV characters might have have the story more believable, & hardcore SF fan that I am, I'd also have liked to seen more emphasis on how the contradictions & irrationalities of Gilead's ideology & failure to deliver on its promises would have contributed as much to its fall as the corruption & infighting among the ruling elites; Agnes & Nicole may not have understood how Gilead's doctrines & practices were working against it, but Mayday's mole surely must have.
